Spring Leadership Retreat

In addition to our Fall Youth Retreat, we host a Spring Leadership Retreat where we gather our youth retreat counselors, ages 23-30, for a great weekend of skill development, community building, and fun. It helps to empower them to use their voice for change, develop strong bonds with their trans and nonbinary peers, and learn to work together as a team. Since our counselors run the youth retreats, this weekend gives them a chance to make improvements on past and prepare for future programs. There is also plenty of time to hang out, go on hikes, and cook elaborate meals together!

On August 29, 2020 we hosted our first ever virtual retreat! It was a whole day long event with peer led activities like yoga, indoor gardening, and pizza making together.

2019 Leadership Retreat

In April 2019, SDFTY held its first Leadership Retreat. The counselors from the previous fall’s youth retreat spent the weekend in Sandisfield, Massachusetts. It was an opportunity to relax and build community among the counselors and board members but also a chance to reflect on how SDFTY could best support trans teens moving forward.
