Jazz and Jeanette Jennings

In January of 2022, we were thrilled to host an evening of conversation with Jazz Jennings and her mom Jeanette. Jazz is a 21-year-old transgender television personality, activist, and author. Jeannette, an activist in her own right, is the President and co-founder of Transkids Purple Rainbow Foundation. Jazz has been a trailblazer for trans visibility since the age of six when she appeared on 20/20 with Barbara Walters. She, and the entire Jennings clan currently star in the award-winning docuseries, “I am Jazz.” During this on-line event Jazz and Jeanette addressed many concerns on the minds of our trans mentees and mentors including how to navigate. conversations about being trans with family and friends, and how to respond to bullying and discrimination. Jazz also spoke openly about her own transition and struggles with mental health. We had an amazing turnout. Everyone there reported feeling inspired, moved, and grateful for the opportunity to get up close and personal with this amazing and courageous mother and daughter duo.
